Frequently Asked Questions |

|
Q:
|
What music
comes with The PC Jukebox? |
|
A: |
NONE!! You must supply all of the music, in
any of the supported formats.
|
 |
2.
|
Q:
|
What about the
album covers? |
|
A: |
Starting with
Version 6.0, The PC Jukebox can automatically search for and
download all of the album cover art for you! It will
do this automatically as you build your Music Library OR you
can manually manage the process for each album by right
clicking on any album cover once the main program is
running. |
 |
3.
|
Q:
|
I already have all of my
cover art. Do I need to download it again when the Music Library
is being built? |
|
A: |
No, the
automatic download feature is just an option. If you
do not have an internet connection when you build your Music
Library, or you have all of the images on your local hard
drive already, you can de-select this option and the build
process will execute much more quickly. |

Q:
|
What media formats are supported by The PC Jukebox? |
|

multiple audio and video formats are now supported.
Audio formats include .mp3, .wma, and .wav. Video
formats include .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, and .wmv. |

|
Q:
|
How does the
Artist, Title, and Album information get read into The PC Jukebox? |
|
A: |
For MP3 files, all of the
song information must be included in the MP3 ID3 tag.
For all other formats, a separate tag file must be created
for each file. A small utility is included with The PC
Jukebox to tag any non MP3 on your hard drive. If you
do not create this separate tag file for your non MP3 files,
they will NOT get loaded into your Music Library. Your files do not need to be in any sort of pre-defined
directory structure. The PC Jukebox can search your
entire hard drive and add any media files it finds in any
folder. |
 |
6.
|
Q:
|
Which versions of
the ID3 tags are supported? |
|
A: |
Both
versions 1 and 2 are supported. |
 |
7.
|
Q:
|
What operating
systems is the program designed for? |
|
A: |
The PC
Jukebox has been designed for and tested on Microsoft
Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Windows 98 SE and Windows ME are no longer
supported. |
 |

|
Q:
|
What screen
resolution is the program designed for? |
|
A: |
The PC
Jukebox is designed to run full screen on a monitor set at
1024x768. If you run a
resolution higher than that (i.e. 1600x1200), The PC Jukebox
will still function properly but it will not take up the
entire screen.
The 800x600
edition of Version 8.0 is not available at this time.
It will be released at a later date. |

Q:
|
What is the
difference between the trial version and the full version of the
program? |
|
A: |
The trial
version is a fully functioning version of the program.
However, it is limited to ten uses. After the tenth session,
a updated file will be necessary to run the program again.
Also, within the first 10 trial sessions, users are limited
to playing 10 songs per session.

|
Q:
|
I'm playing a video
file, but the Equalizer and Crossfading options aren't working.
Why not? |
|
A: |
The playback engine for MP3
files is different than the one for all other formats.
Unfortunately, the new engine does not support the Equalizer or
Crossfading. These options will only work with MP3 files. |

|
Q:
|
Are there any
known issues with Version 8.0? |
|
A: |
Yes, there are a few but none of
them really impact the overall functionality of the program.
Specifically, they are:
1.
Screen Repainting When Changing Button Settings
Occasionally when a button’s settings are altered and/or the
application changes in or out of Full Screen Mode, the background of
the current screen may not repaint properly or completely. The
easiest solution to this problem is to simply visit another screen and
then return to the original one. You will find that it now has
repainted correctly.
2.
Some Buttons Are Blank When Applying A Skin
Because of the new functionality in Version 8.8, several new buttons
were added. Skins that looked complete in Version 6.0 and before are
now missing graphics for some of these buttons. The best solution to
this issue is to download the latest copy of the skin from
www.thepcjukebox.com\skins. All of the skins there have been
updated to include all of the graphics for Version 8.0.
3.
The Remote Control (Keyboard Mappings) Doesn’t Work On Some
Screens
Due to the fact that the Remote Control is tied to keyboard keys,
there are some screens that the remote will be disabled. These
screens are the ones that accept keyboard input including the Search
screen, the Edit Song Info screen, the Download Album Cover screen,
and the Multiple Song Edit screen. And remember that quick keyboard
scrolling (typing the first letter of an Artist or Album) is always
disabled when the Keyboard Mappings are turned on.
